When I got my iPod a few months ago, I didn't realize that it had a built-in weatherometer in it.  Or maybe it's a moodometer.  Whatever it is, the iPod has an almost eerie knack for playing just the right songs at just the right times.  On my drive to work on this cold, gray, rainy, dreary morning, it played for me:

"Nada" - The Refreshments
"Waltz No. 2" - Elliott Smith (This one I listened to twice.)
"Sur le Fil" - Yann Tiersen (from the Amelie soundtrack)
"Kathy's Song" - Simon and Garfunkel
"Hallelujah" - Jeff Buckley

...all of which fit my current mood perfectly.

You'd think Apple would want to advertise this feature a little more, wouldn't you?

"Hallelujah" - Jeff Buckley

And every breathe we drew was Hallelujah...

*sigh*

I made with the clicky; hadn't seen that version before. He was really the examlple of the Young Poet, wasn't he?

Though while I was watching the vidoe, I kept getting the impression that he was either high or he'd just been told that his dog had died. He emoted so vigorously.

Yeah, he certainly seemed to be someone who felt what he sang down to the center of his being.

I remember when I heard he'd died I was saddened and not even a little bit surprised. Terrible as it was, it just seemed like the kind of thing that was fated to happen to him, like he was destined to walk in his father's tragic footsteps.
