From the How the Hell Did I Not Know About This Before? Department:

Lauren Graham will be guest-starring on the next two episodes of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip playing… herself.  She’ll be the guest host of the fictional Studio 60, and we’ll get to see her interacting with the cast and crew of the show.  I think my love for Graham is pretty well documented at this point, and adding her to a Sorkin show, even if it’s just two episodes, is enough to just about make me blow my metaphorical wad.  It’s like going to a fancy restaurant and ordering, like, this amazing gourmet dessert — coconut tarts with pear sauce, maybe?  And then you bring it all the way to perfection by putting bacon on it.  Awwwwwwwwwwwww yeah.

Okay, well… maybe it’s not quite like that.

Still, it should be a pretty awesome thing to behold:  after six seasons of Gilmore Girls and the rapid-fire dialogue that’s such a hallmark of that show, Graham should have little trouble wrapping her lips and tongue around Sorkin’s words.

(Note to self: perhaps it’s best not to put the thoughts “Lauren Graham” and “wrapping her lips and tongue around $x” so close together when I’m writing in a public place.  Distracty.)

Are you caught up on GG yet? Are you watching the drama (er, well, sort of pseudo, erstwhile drama - I hear Amy Palladino left the show and they've got some other goober writing for them) unfold this season?

I'm not caught up -- still about 2/3 of the way through season five -- but I have a general idea of what's going on on the show. I'm curious to see what it's like without Amy Sherman-Palladino guiding everything; I've heard confliting reports so far.

What do you think about what you've seen this season? I'm guessing that since you referred to the new head writer as a "goober" that you're probably not thrilled... :)

You know, I'm a little crack monkey when it comes to GG. Some of the dialog has been quite snappy, and there was a *killer* scene where Luke takes up the baton of speed-ranting that I enjoyed. But we're a little thin on believeable/likeable plot this season. And really, Rory is such a bore. The GGs are really Emily and Lorelai, not Lorelai and Rory!

I honestly think they've had no idea what the hell to do with Rory since she got out of high school. I agree with you that the Lorelai-Emily dynamic is far, far more interesting and entertaining than the Lorelai-Rory one (which really is just kinda sweet, but that's about it).

Happy happy happy place!

Mmmmmmmmm, Lauren Graham... in Sorkin-land... with Amanda Peet (who is getting *so* much hotter as she plays smarter characters)
